FAQ & Travel
Are the facilities for the sole use of the house guests? Yes, no people other than the guests at La Maison Fontaine will use any of the facilities inside or outside the house.
How far is the nearest beach? Larmar Plage is about the closest beach as seen on the DVD. This is about 30 mins drive from the house but there are many more beaches to choose from in that area and many driving for about 45 mins to the west.
How far to the nearest supermarket and can we get bread in the village? A large supermarket can be found at Guemene sur Scorf about 10 min drive. A mini market is situated in the next village of La Croisty 1 mile away but in the village there is a depot selling bread and the Irish Shop caters for daily supplies of milk etc.
Are the supermarkets open on Sunday? No shops are generally open on Sunday, however, the bread depot and Irish shop in St Caradec are open and the mini market etc in La Croisty until 12.00 noon. We strongly advise you bring enough with you for Sunday and make sure you have enough petrol to drive from the port.
What is in the welcome pack? The welcome pack consists of 4 to 8 toilet rolls, cling film, foil, 1 kitchen roll for each week, dishwasher tablets (1 for each day) washing machine powder, washing up liquid, sponge and dishcloth, toilet cleaner, 4 bin bags, coffee, tea bags, bread, butter, milk, biscuits, jam and we supply 7 to 10 tea towels.
What temperature is the swimming pool set at? The swimming pool is set at 29 degrees, however, the heater is not the conventional type but an eco friendly one. It works like a fridge in reverse extracting warm air from the atmosphere and spitting out the cold air. The temperature early June 2005/2006 was 25 degrees rising and cutting out at 29 degrees as the air warms through the summer.
Is there a pub within walking distance to the Maison? The Goblin Bar is in the Village selling a variety of beers, wines and spirits and is well used by most of our guests. You will find very good comments about this in the visitors book and also about the steak and chips. |
