FAQ & Travel

Are the facilities for the sole use of the house guests?
Yes, no people other than the guests at Villa Fontaine will use any of the facilities inside or outside the house.

How far is the nearest beach?
Larmar Plage is about the closest beach situated in the Llorient area. This is about 40 mins drive from the villa but there are many more beaches to choose from in that area and many driving for about 45 mins to the west. Lac de Guerledan is a 20 min drive and there you will find a man made beach with many facilities. All details are in the information pack at the villa.

How far to the nearest supermarket and can we get bread in the village?
A large supermarket can be found at Guemene sur Scorff a 5 min drive. The village will cater for your daily needs from either the bread shop selling veg, eggs, butter and milk etc and a butcher for cooked meats.

Are the supermarkets open on Sunday?
No shops are open on Sunday, however, the bread shop in the village and a mini market in the next village of La Croisty (5 min drive) are open until 12.00 noon. Please note the village shops are closed on Monday as are most of the small shops in Guemene but the supermarket in Guemene is open on Monday.

What is in the Welcome Pack?
The welcome pack consists of 4 or 8 toilet rolls, cling film, foil, 1 kitchen roll for each week, dishwasher tablets (1 for each day) washing machine power, washing up liquid, sponge and dishcloth, 4 bin bags, toilet cleaner, coffee, tea bags, bread, butter, milk, biscuits, jam and we supply 7 to 10 tea towels.

What temperature is the swimming pool set at? (Applicable mid May to Mid Sept)
The swimming pool is set at 29 degrees, however, the heater is not the conventional type but an eco friendly one. It works like a fridge in reverse extracting warm air from the atmosphere and spitting out the cold air. The temperature early June 2005/2006 was 25 degrees rising and cutting out at 29 degrees as the air warms through the summer.

Is there a pub within walking distance?
Yes in the village you have the tabac Chez Marie The where you will find the locals. There is also The Welcome Bar owned and run by Bridget who is English and there you will find local and English people mixing happily.
